Implementing an ISV provided solution requires a different approach then implementing a propriety or hybrid-based solution. As for the propriety or hybrid-based solution you grow into the solution. You can change design, choose best of breed, switch partners. As for an ISV solution you are married to your partner. As in a good marriage communication is key. Is the solution a fit? If it does not fit, how are features and change requests handled by my ISV? Are the localizations provided for my global needs? Do I get best of breed? But it all comes down to the fact: Is my implementation still extendible and adjustable to handle my specific needs.
